Lemongrass – some health benefits of lemongrass can be attributed to its anti-bacterial, anti- fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Lemongrass contains essential vitamins including vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, C, folate and minerals like potassium, calcium, manganese, phosphorus, copper, zinc, and iron. The diuretic nature of lemongrass helps remove toxins from the body by increasing the frequency and quantity of urination.
Ginger – warms the core improving circulation, commonly used to treat motion sickness, morning sickness, colic, and upset stomach. Ginger is believed to have anti-inflammatory qualities that may relieve swelling and pain.
Green tea – high in antioxidants protecting the body from free radical damage. Studies have found that green tea increases metabolism, and helps lower LDL cholesterol (bad) while increasing HDL (good). Green tea contains the amino acid L-theanine, which directly stimulates the production of alpha brain waves, creating a state of deep relaxation and mental alertness similar to what is achieved through meditation. L-theanine is also involved in the formation of the neurotransmitter GABA which help reduces anxiety.
Lemon peel – excellent source of fiber, potassium, magnesium, calcium, folate, and beta carotene. Since they contain high amounts of calcium and vitamin C, lemon peels have been shown to aid bone health.
