Protein, the building block of life. When you eat or drink something that contains protein, your body starts to break it down into smaller units called amino acids. Your body uses amino acids to build and repair tissues, make enzymes, hormones, brain chemicals and makes antibodies to fight disease.
Protein powders can be a great way to supplement your diet.
Unfortunately, many store brought protein powders are packed with cheap artifical fillers and high in sugar.
Making your own protein powder allows you to play with the recipe and create the perfect protein powder for you.

Step 1 – Choose your protein sources
To build your own powder, you’ll need a few dried protein sources. Which ones you choose and how much you use is entirely up to you.
My favorite ingredients are:
- 1 cup oats or
- 1 cup quinoa flakes
- 1/2 cup hemp seeds
- 1/4 cup chai seeds
- 1/4 cup flax seeds
- 1/4 sunflower seeds
Blending your ingredients into a powder using a coffee or spice grinder. If you don’t have one you can use a blender.
Add a few tablespoons of anything you’d like.
My favourite ingredients are:
- B inspired botanical green blend designed to assist detoxification, restore your body’s pH balance and contains pre-biotics to support digestive health.
- Raw cacao / cacao nibs – rich in antioxidants and magnesium.
- Matcha green tea – packed with antioxidants, boost metabolism and increases energy.
- B inspired energy kick – helps to revitalise and energise your body, increase mental awareness and alertness to get you through the day.
Add to your smoothies, energy bars or favourite raw desert.
Store it in an airtight container for a few months.
