Rooibos and honeybush are traditional South African herbal teas, packed with antioxidants and minerals. This infusion is naturally sweet in flavour, full bodied and earthy with an added refreshing hint of lemon myrtle and cinnamon.

Rooibos and Honeybush herbal tea

Rooibos – Native to South Africa Rooibos contains high level of nutrients including copper, iron, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese, magnesium, and alpha-hydroxy acid (for healthy skin). Rooibos has grown in popularity partly due to its high levels of antioxidants such as quercetin and aspalathin. Another bonus is that it has low tannin levels compared to regular black tea. Tannins often get a bad reputation because they interfere with the absorption of certain nutrients, like iron. Finally, rooibos contains no oxalic acid which can increase your risk of kidney stones.

Honeybush – contains a range of minerals required for good health such as phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, sodium, manganese, iron and boron. Honeybush is also effective in relieving nausea and stomach pains that are a result of menstrual and pre-menstrual symptoms making it a wonderful support in women’s health.

Cinnamon – sweet warm and fragrant – cinnamon is renowned for its antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. Cinnamon is also well known for its ability to lower blood sugar by lowering insulin resistance.

Lemon myrtle – native to the subtropical rainforests of southeast Queensland, lemon myrtle provides a calming effect by inducing better sleep and promoting relaxation (filling you with positive vibes). Certain properties of lemon myrtle help stimulate the digestion process and the antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of lemon myrtle help in treating a sore throat, reduce sinus infections and bronchitis by killing bacteria and reducing inflammation.
