Refresh herbal tea
Green tea – high in antioxidants protecting the body from free radical damage. Studies have found that green tea increases metabolism, and helps lower LDL cholesterol (bad) while increasing HDL (good). Green tea contains the amino acid L-theanine, which directly stimulates the production of alpha brain waves, creating a state of deep relaxation and mental alertness similar to what is achieved through meditation. L-theanine is also involved in the formation of the neurotransmitter GABA which help reduces anxiety.
Peppermint – contains antispasmodic and antimicrobial properties to improve digestion, and reduce pain related to IBS symptoms. Menthol, the main chemical component of peppermint and is an effective decongestant which shrinks swollen membranes in the nose, making it easier to breathe.
Lemon myrtle – native to the subtropical rainforests of southeast Queensland, lemon myrtle provides a calming effect by inducing better sleep and promoting relaxation (filling you with positive feelings). Certain properties of lemon myrtle help stimulate the digestion process and the antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of lemon myrtle help in treating a sore throat by killing bacteria and reducing inflammation.
Lime peel – has an alluring scent which causes your mouth to water aiding in digestion and increasing secretion of digestive juices. Limes contain a significant amount of vitamin C, a well-known antioxidant.
