Description

Mother to be organic herbal tea

Our naturopath formulated Mother to be organic herbal tea has been formulated with expecting mothers in mind. The carefully selected certified organic herbs in this blend may naturally strengthen and tone the uterus in preparation for birth and post birth recovery.

When should you start drinking raspberry leaf tea?

Starting in the 3rd trimester around 8 weeks before birth, we suggest to start by drinking 1 cup per day, and gradually increase this to 3 to 4 cups per day. Continue for 2 – 12 weeks postnatally to assist with reducing blood loss, toning the uterus back to it’s normal size and support breast milk production.

Therapeutic benefits

Raspberry leaf – If consumed regularly during the 3rd trimester raspberry leaf tea can help strengthen and tone the uterus in preparation for labor.  Raspberry leaf can also help boost milk production.

Nettle leaf – Rich in vitamins and minerals, nettle leaf will not only nourish mum but also her growing baby. After birth, nettle is thought to promote an abundant milk supply.

Peppermint – Due to its high methanol content, peppermint can help improve digestion, relieves nausea, morning sickness and flatulence.

Rose petals – Women have been using rose petals for centuries to soothe their body and mind.

How to brew the perfect cup of tea

Measurements & ratios

The recommended ratio is 1 teaspoon per cup of hot tea. If you like it nice and strong, add an extra teaspoon and brew for the recommended time.

To serve

Save your milk for black teas – most green and herbals are best served straight up.

Temperature

Swill a little hot water in your teapot or cup, then discard. This will keep your teawares from cooling your tea too quickly. Green and herbal teas prefer 80°C, so just combine 20% cold water with 80% boiling water.

  • Black tea & Oolong 100°C 2-4 minutes
  • Green tea 80°C 1-3 minutes
  • Herbal & floral tisanes 80°C 3-5 minutes
  • Rooibos & honeybush tisanes 100°C 3-5 minutes

Loose leaf vs. tea bags

One of the main reasons we love loose leaf tea is the flavour. Usually loose leaf tea is higher quality than the tea in tea bags. Sometimes, tea bags are used to disguise lower quality tea leaves, but with loose leaf you can’t get away with that.

Most commercial tea bags are created using plastics, bleaches, glues, staples and other nasty things that are best avoided in your daily cuppa.

Another reason is because we love the environment. We hate to have a compostable material such as organic tea & herbs trapped inside little plastic pouches. Our teas are completely organic, so be sure to empty your loose tea leaves into the compost or the garden.
