Hot flush organic herbal tea
Our naturopath formulated Hot flush organic herbal tea is blended with a combination of herbs sharing the ability to aid in the balance of menopausal symptoms.
Therapeutic benefits
Honeybush – Can help relieve some menopausal symptoms as the plant naturally contains known phytoestrogens. These plant compounds bind to the body’s oestrogen receptors and can imitate the effect of human oestrogen.
Sage – Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause and sometimes accompanied by nausea and dizziness. Sweating and hot flashes can happen at any time of the day, though more often, they are experienced at night due to the drop in estrogen levels. Sage may help reduce excessive perspiration and hot flashes because sage directly decreases sweat production. Sage can help to enhance memory recall whilst also supporting concentration and focus.
Chaste Tree – Works with the pituitary gland (the master gland that communicates with the ovaries) to balance hormone for relief of PMS symptoms, improved female fertility and menopause symptom relief.
Lemon Verbena – Contains mildly sedative properties. Beneficial for the management of nervous system disorders such as depression, insomnia and anxiety.
Red clover – Contains phytoestrogens that may help ease hot flushes and night sweats, but seemingly more so in women who are postmenopausal (after menopause) than perimenopausal (around the time of menopause).
Rose petals – Richly fragrant, the scent of roses can help soothe anxiety, calm the mind and lift mood.

How to brew the perfect cup of tea
Measurements & ratios
The recommended ratio is 1 teaspoon per cup of hot tea. If you like it nice and strong, add an extra teaspoon and brew for the recommended time.
To serve
Save your milk for black teas – most green and herbals are best served straight up.
Temperature
Swill a little hot water in your teapot or cup, then discard. This will keep your teawares from cooling your tea too quickly. Green and herbal teas prefer 80°C, so just combine 20% cold water with 80% boiling water.
- Black tea & Oolong 100°C 2-4 minutes
- Green tea 80°C 1-3 minutes
- Herbal & floral tisanes 80°C 3-5 minutes
- Rooibos & honeybush tisanes 100°C 3-5 minutes
Loose leaf vs. tea bags
One of the main reasons we love loose leaf tea is the flavour. Usually loose leaf tea is higher quality than the tea in tea bags. Sometimes, tea bags are used to disguise lower quality tea leaves, but with loose leaf you can’t get away with that.
Most commercial tea bags are created using plastics, bleaches, glues, staples and other nasty things that are best avoided in your daily cuppa.
Another reason is because we love the environment. We hate to have a compostable material such as organic tea & herbs trapped inside little plastic pouches. Our teas are completely organic, so be sure to empty your loose tea leaves into the compost or the garden.
