Cacao and peppermint bliss balls
Chocolate and mint lovers here’s a quick and easy recipe for you – “mint cacao balls”. Packed full of fibre, protein, magnesium, zinc and essential fatty acids…. These delicious cacao and peppermint bliss balls pair perfect with a cup of B inspired organic refresh herbal tea
1/2 cup pitted dates
4 tablespoons coconut oil
1/2 cup pistachio nuts
1/2 cup almonds
1/4 cup buckwheat grouts
2 tablespoons cacao powder
10 drops peppermint extract (add more if desired)
Add dates and coconut oil into the food processor and blend until the dates are chopped into smaller pieces.
Add the cacao, pistachio nuts, buckwheat and peppermint essence and process until the mix begins to blend together.
Scoop out and roll into small balls and refrigerate. Enjoy x
Tips – Despite what the name suggests buckwheat is a seed, not a grain. The gluten-free grain contains two powerful flavonoids which act as antioxidants, rutin, and quercetin. Buckwheat is also rich in vitamins and minerals such as riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), copper, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and manganese.
Essence and extract are both used to add flavour and/or aroma to food. Extracts are made by placing a raw material in alcohol, this extracts elements from the raw material into the liquid mixture to give you an ‘extract’. Essence is usually a synthetic (ie chemically produced) flavouring and is much cheaper than the natural extract.1
